Prison and Jail Transition

The Prison and Jail Transition Ministry (PJTM) serves those who are incarcerated in the local jails (Orange and Seminole Counties) and those who are returning to Central Florida from state and federal prison.

Ministry opportunities exist locally and include weekly worship services web-streamed into John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County and the Orange County Correctional Facility in Orange County. Additionally, Celebrate Recovery Inside and numerous opportunities within aftercare and reentry are available.

Northland Church is pleased to be one of the churches participating in reentry through the Healing and Transition (HAT) faith based community wide initiative. For more information on HAT please visit the their website at www.hatprogram.org.  As one of the many local churches identified as a Station of Hope (SOH), Northland has identified itself as a welcoming community for those returning from incarceration. Previously incarcerated men and women along with their families are encouraged to participate.

Volunteers trained as Transition Coaches assist Returning Citizens (former inmates) and their families with what can be a difficult transition back into the community. Transition begins while the inmate is still incarcerated with volunteers trained as In-Cell Mentor/Facilitators guiding the beginning stages of transitioning. A transition team of volunteers continue serving the Returning Citizen and their family until the needs are met and they are connected to the body of Christ.

Numerous opportunities exist both inside and outside the jail.  The first step is to participate in a 6 hour orientation session scheduled every three months. Please register in advance.
